Make Moving Easier with StorPlace Self Storage

Everyone has to move at one time or another in their life. Instead of stressing and getting overwhelmed there are a few tips you can follow that will make your transition easier. From packing, storing, moving, to unpacking, StorPlace Self Storage has experience in these fields and is happy to share some tips with you!
The first thing you should do when preparing for a move is to account for all of your belongings. It may seem tedious to have to sort through everything, but once you go through it all you can figure out what is coming with you, and what you should toss. Once you have everything sorted, it’s time to buy some moving boxes! StorPlace has all the boxes and moving supplies you may need. From the standard 1.5 cubic foot small box, all the way up to a wardrobe box, tape, bubble wrap, etc. We have got you covered. It is always best to buy your boxes new. Used boxes may carry food odors, or not be as sturdy as new boxes. It is always best to buy more than enough boxes, if you don’t buy enough, you may be hard pressed on moving day, whereas if you buy too many, you can always return them at a later time.
A trick of the trade is to number your storage boxes, make sure you mark the top and the side of each box for easy identification later. Write down the basics of what is inside each box on a sheet of paper, like what room they belong in, and who they belong to. Always place toiletries and necessities in the moving truck last, so you have immediate access to them when you arrive at your new home. If you are using movers, make sure to let them know of any boxes that will be staying behind (i.e. toiletries, change of clothes etc.). Take care to pack dishes and breakables accordingly. You may wrap them in bubble wrap, or newsprint. Dishes, glasses, and breakables should always be stored in small boxes, that way the boxes don’t get too heavy.
Now that all your boxes are labeled and packed, it’s time for them to go into the moving truck! If you are doing the move on your own, make sure you pack the truck full for each trip. Any gaps or spaces on the floor create room for your belongings to shift around. Many trucks have wood slats on the sides; you should tie heavy furniture to these slats so they are less inclined to move around. Always cover furniture with moving blankets; this will help minimize any damage to the furniture. Another tip would be to pack mirrors and large artwork between two mattresses; this will lessen the chance of damaging the mirror or artwork. Think of your moving truck being like a big game of Tetris, pack everything inside of it for your storage unit as tight as possible and don’t be afraid to turn some pieces around to get the right fit.
Once you arrive at your new home, the boxes are easily placed in the correct room since you used the number system or organize yourself. With a little organization, moving doesn’t have to be dreadful or stressful; it can actually be a positive experience with the reward being your brand new home! StorPlace Self Storage Manager Reminisces

Well here we are again. Another year has come and gone. As I look back on the past year, I have to stop and take a minute to reminisce. I sit here wondering where the year went and how and the heck it went by so fast. A lot of good things have happened for me this past year, the most important thing being a very well deserved promotion. I have finally been given the opportunity to show my fellow coworkers what I can do as a property manager. I don’t want to sound conceited, but I do always work hard and try to give 110% to everything that I do. I think this can be said about each and every StorPlace Self Storage manager.

We all take great pride in what we do and how our properties look. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we hope that pride can be seen by our current and future tenants alike. And I can’t forget to mention all the pedestrians when they drive by or come onto the self storage facilities each one of us manages. We all like to operate a well maintained and clean facility. We like to keep all the light bulbs changed and lit and want to make sure the hallways are always kept up by keeping them swept and litter free. I just recently brought my leaf blower from home and blew off the property one pile of leaves at a time. I know it sounds like a big job, but the payoff was well worth it. The property looks great.

We always keep the bathrooms nice and clean as well as our offices. I personally will pick up trash as I do the lock check by stuffing it into my pockets. That’s one reason I wear cargo pants all the time, in case anyone was wondering. Sometimes when I get back to the office my pockets are bulging out from the trash I’ve collected, although that’s a very rare occasion. All of our tenants are very tidy for the most part and also does their share to keep the property clean by disposing of their trash properly. I guess you can say they too take pride in the property they rent at.
