StorPlace Self Storage is pleased to announce that it is now a corporate sponsor of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee fundraiser, The Franklin Wine Festival happening Friday, October 11 at The Factory at Franklin. With the growing number of children facing adversity, Big Brothers Big Sisters comes alongside kids who need a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” by connecting them with a willing and qualified positive adult role model. These volunteers help mentor a child by tutoring them in school, counseling them on life issues, and just spending time with them. All of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters are qualified volunteers. A major expense that the agency incurs is the interviewing process of carefully screening each volunteer making sure that each volunteer is a good match for their Little Brother or Sister, and the regular one-to-one supervision of a trained social worker ensuring that relationship flourishes.
The 9th Annual Franklin Wine Festival, presented by Cool Springs Wines & Spirits, is the major fundraiser for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. The event offers tastings of over 300 different wines, culinary delights from over 30 Middle Tennessee restaurants and caterers, famous local chefs as well as live and silent auctions. Are you looking for something to do in the Barfield area of Murfreesboro? Riverdale Warriors Football is one of the top High School football teams in the state of Tennessee. They have taken home State Championships in 1994, 1997, 2001, and 2004. Lead by Coach Ron Aydelott, the Riverdale Warriors have a strong football tradition.
This season has gotten off to a disappointing start for Riverdale with losses in their first two games of the season, which has not happened since 1989. Don’t be discouraged just yet, the Warriors have proven again and again that they are a formidable opponent and will no doubt bounce back from this bumpy beginning.
Last Friday night’s game was against the East Hamilton Hurricanes from Chattanooga. The East Hamilton Hurricanes lost their first game to Giles County but turned it around winning their last two games against Signal Mountain and Dobyns-Bennett. The matchup between the Riverdale Warriors and East Hamilton was one that you didn’t want to miss, even though Riverdale came up on the losing end of the game, 42-21. The Warriors are playing away games for the next 3 weeks and will not be playing at home again until October 18th when they take on Lavergne. The home games are held at the Tomahawk Stadium at Riverdale High School located at 802 Warrior Drive Murfreesboro, TN 37128. The Tomahawk Stadium is a great landmark with a seating capacity of 5000.
Come out to the game and show your support for a great football program. You can even wear the team colors which are gold and cardinal red and help the team’s mascot, Chief Win-em-all, cheer on our Riverdale Warriors. StorPlace Self Storage of Veterans Parkway wear our Cardinal Red in support of our Barfield community and in particular the Riverdale Warriors.
In preparation for the game be sure to visit Riverdale Warriors Football website at http://riverdalewarriors.com/football/tradition/73-about-riverdale.html to learn the Riverdale Fight Song and Riverdale War chant. That way you can join in on all the fun. Go Warriors!
One of the most rewarding things as a storage facility manager is having the pleasure of meeting a wide variety of people. Because of the location of the StorPlace Self Storage Murfreesboro stores, we get the chance to interact with not only people from within our community, but, those that live out-of-town, out-of-state, and even out of the country.Because I am from this area and lived here all of my life, I get asked questions from many people about what types of fun things there are to do in the area. This summer alone, I have met some very interesting people who are traveling through and have had a chance to share a little of my hometown knowledge with.
One of my favorite things that I suggest that people new to the Murfreesboro area check out is the Stones River Battlefield (one of our stores is actually named for that area of town). It is located just off of Interstate Exit 78, and provides a nice insight into the history of our community. You can take a tour and actually see where one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War happened!
If you are more into nature and outdoors stuff, the Murfreesboro Greenway system may be more interesting to you. There are miles and miles of walking/ bike trails that whip and wind throughout the entire city. There are different trailheads where you can start and make your way around. Most of the trail is right beside the Stones River so it is cool and well shaded. There are several parks associated with the Greenway System, and there is even a play area where you can take your dogs to run off some energy that they might build up being inside all day!
If you are a shopper, we have two amazing malls right in the heart of our town for you to visit. Stones River Mall is also just off Interstate Exit 78 and The Avenue Murfreesboro is off Interstate Exit 76. Both malls have a wide variety of stores to fit anyone’s needs and you can definitely get a good workout in walking around to all the different stores.
If you need some help trying to find something to do in the area, just ask your local StorPlace Self Storage Manager if they have some ideas of something fun to experience while you are in Murfreesboro, Tennessee! We look forward to meeting you at any one of our four locations around town.

By using self-storage, you can significantly reduce your stress level. Children on sport teams come along with extra balls, equipment and more than likely dirtier at the end of their practice or game day. Instead of bringing the extra stuff home, stopping by your storage unit to drop off the sports equipment can help with preventing clutter building up at your home. StorPlace Self Storage has many convenient locations in the Middle Tennessee and Bowling Green, KY areas to help serve you. By making an after practice routine of swinging by StorPlace Self Storage to store fall sports equipment, busy families can enjoy their time together once they are home for the evening.
