One of my favorite things about fall: PUMPKINS

I enjoy fall and everything it entails, especially PUMPKINS! I work for StorPlace Self Storage which is a company that supports and recognizes the importance of family and family time; our work hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:30pm which leaves time for family fun.  I also live in Murfreesboro, so I am always seeking out fun places to visit that are not too far from home. Here are two of my favorite family fun fall activities near Murfreesboro.

Lucky Ladd Farms

Lucky Ladd Farms is located in Eagleville, TN just a short 20 minute drive from Murfreesboro.  Pumpkins are available for picking here beginning on September 20th through November 1st.  This is a great place to take the whole family, as it is much more than just a pumpkin patch. Lucky Ladd has a full day of activities available including a petting zoo, pony rides, pumpkin patch, corn maze, and over 75 hands-on attractions.  You get all of this for $10.00 ages 2-64 and ages 65 and over get in for $9.00; also parking is free. You can obtain more information by visiting their website at http://www.luckyladdfarms.com/.

Walden Pumpkin Patch

Walden Pumpkin Patch is located in Smyrna, TN which is also a short 20 minute drive from Murfreesboro.  This beautiful farm is definitely worth a visit. Walden’s is open beginning September 20th through October 31st and admission to the farm, including parking is free of charge. They have hayrides, face painting, and sand art activities all for a small charge. They also have an activity area you can play in for just $4 a person which includes a corn maze, hay mountain, a 40 foot slide, seesaw, creepy corner, and several more activities. They also have concessions you can purchase while you are there; I would highly recommend the pumpkin fudge…DELICIOUS! You can visit Walden’s webpage for more information at http://www.waldenfarm.biz/.

In my opinion, you really cannot go wrong with either choice, perhaps you can just do both; whichever you choose I hope you have a great time!  Happy Fall!

Boxes and Packing Supplies

Packing and Moving Supplies at StorPlaceWhen customers walk in to a storage facility they expect the facility to only rent storage space. However, StorPlace Self Storage also provides packing supplies ranging from boxes to tape to packing peanuts.

The boxes vary in size from small boxes, (1.5 cubic feet), to extra large boxes, (6.1 cubic feet), and there are also odd-shaped boxes for specific items. Small boxes are best for heavier items such as books, CD’s, and dishes which don’t sound to heavy but when you start filling up a box with these items, it can get extremely heavy very quickly. The next size up is the medium box, ( 3.0 cubic feet), they are the most popular and versatile box that StorPlace Self Storage sells. This particular box is perfect for kid’s toys, priceless collectables, and small appliances.  Also available for purchase are large boxes and extra large boxes. These boxes are ideal for storing large or bulky items such as computer equipment, clothing, and linens.

We also have different size boxes for your specific needs. There are lamp base boxes and mirror boxes and wardrobe boxes, just to name a few. Mirror boxes are also great for framed pictures or framed art work. Wardrobe boxes are wonderful because they are 48 inches tall and 24 inches wide with a metal bar across the top to hold clothes on a hanger. This way you don’t even have to take you clothes off the hanger to move them. Just pull them out of your closet and hang the directly in the wardrobe box. Clothes can be moved or stored without getting wrinkled or dirty so you don’t have to wash them again after your move.  StorPlace Self Storage also sells box kits to get you moving in the right direction. It is real easy to see what size boxes you need when you are at home looking at your belongings, but once you leave your home and make it to a store that sells boxes, it gets a little harder to pick out what you need. The box kit contains the most popular size boxes, a roll of tape, and some bubble wrap. There is also a kitchen kit that contains the same items as the regular box kit with an additional 10 pounds box of wrapping paper.

The 10 pounds of wrapping paper goes a long way in the kitchen when it comes to wrapping your dishes and glasses. It is very tempting to use newspaper for this particular job, but if you ask around you will find out that using regular newspaper is a good way to ruin your dishes as it leaves a permanent black ink on your nice dishes. It is best to use the 10 pound box of wrapping paper for this job as it is very similar to news paper, but WITHOUT the black ink. It The newsprint is also available in a 20 pound box if you think that the 10 pound box is just not enough.  It is also great to wrap the knickknacks and collectibles that are all around your house.

StorPlace Self Storage also sells many other packing items as well, including but are not limited to: bubble wrap, tape, rope, ratchet tie-downs, packing peanuts, measuring tape, box knives, and even a rain poncho in case it starts raining on you in the middle of your move.  As you can see this is a one stop shop for all your moving and storage needs.

As the gas prices continue to climb even higher, you do not want to be wasting time and gas driving from store to store looking for the packing and moving supplies that you just ran out of! Keep StorPlace Self Storage in mind for the next time you move so it will be a smooth transition.
