Take pride in what you do!

StorPlace of Hickory HollowPride is an inward directed emotion with both negative and positive conations.
The Bible makes references of pride to mean; full of himself, to be a fool, or foolish. Other references of the word state a corrupt sense of self-worth, or an excessively high opinion of oneself. Pride is often equated to one’s own ego.

That being said, I’m using pride with a positive spin! To take pride! Meaning a feeling, pleasure of satisfaction derived from one’s actions from some act, possession, or relationship of, to be proud of.

I often say, “We here at StorPlace take great pride in our job, product and/or our facility. That is a true fact! And if it’s not, you have some work to do! Because if you are telling the truth, it’s not a hard sell. Believe in yourself! Believe in your product! Believe that you DO have the best to offer. We have the best trained management, a team of caring employees, and the best looking, safest facility in town! You’ve got to believe it to be able to say it, once you believe it you say it with pride! Be proud! Because You are the one that makes it true!

Everyone and their brother has a storage place now days! You can rent storage while you get your hair cut, groceries, get your taxes, whatever! They pop up overnight, many are gone just as quickly! You can rent from some at $1.00 a month, and realize you still over paid!

Bottom line we all have the same thing to offer; a unit door, 4 walls, floor and packing supplies.

So what makes us different? It’s how we do what we do that sets us apart! We offer more! We strive to be better! It is because we care! We care enough to listen! We think outside the box!!! We are creative! We are empowering! We are sympathetic and empathic. – We may be the only safe, friendly face in a tumultuous time in their life.

We greet each person and treat them the way we would want to be treated! We take pride in offering the best customer service, the finest product in a well-cared for, secure and safe facility. Our facility speaks for itself, nicely manicured, clean and kept, large paved lots, with an inviting atmosphere.

So its ok to take pride in your work! Be proud of the ethics our company is based on. Be proud of the mission statement! Be the mission statement! Be proud of the level of professionalism and mannerisms YOU bring to the company and how that is portrayed to the customer.

Pride can start with a smile! The simplest of gestures! When someone enters the building, first thing that should greet them is your smile. Smile when answering the phone! If you are smiling while you’re talking on the phone, they hear it in your voice!

Get up! If you happen to be sitting down when someone walks into the store – jump up and smile! (that part was just to see if you are still reading!!!! As if we get to sit down! Insert a LMBO emoji here)

Listen to the customer – really listen! Put yourself in the shoes of the customer, what are they going through? What can you offer them? What can you say that will put them at ease and build trust? We learn a lot about the customer at move in, every customer has a story, and many share their story with us. Your verbal response as well as your body language are how the message is driven home with this customer. What message are you “driving”? Is it professional and friendly?
Smile as you build a rapport with your customer, strive to show an openness, a genuine concern, be trustworthy and empathic as much as possible. Be proud knowing you can meet their needs with confidence, don’t just focus on a sale or an up-sale.
Your job is important! … And at the end of the day, at 5:30 when you forget all about it, (LOL). Take pride in a job well done!!
