Take pride in what you do!

StorPlace of Hickory HollowPride is an inward directed emotion with both negative and positive conations.
The Bible makes references of pride to mean; full of himself, to be a fool, or foolish. Other references of the word state a corrupt sense of self-worth, or an excessively high opinion of oneself. Pride is often equated to one’s own ego.

That being said, I’m using pride with a positive spin! To take pride! Meaning a feeling, pleasure of satisfaction derived from one’s actions from some act, possession, or relationship of, to be proud of.

I often say, “We here at StorPlace take great pride in our job, product and/or our facility. That is a true fact! And if it’s not, you have some work to do! Because if you are telling the truth, it’s not a hard sell. Believe in yourself! Believe in your product! Believe that you DO have the best to offer. We have the best trained management, a team of caring employees, and the best looking, safest facility in town! You’ve got to believe it to be able to say it, once you believe it you say it with pride! Be proud! Because You are the one that makes it true!

Everyone and their brother has a storage place now days! You can rent storage while you get your hair cut, groceries, get your taxes, whatever! They pop up overnight, many are gone just as quickly! You can rent from some at $1.00 a month, and realize you still over paid!

Bottom line we all have the same thing to offer; a unit door, 4 walls, floor and packing supplies.

So what makes us different? It’s how we do what we do that sets us apart! We offer more! We strive to be better! It is because we care! We care enough to listen! We think outside the box!!! We are creative! We are empowering! We are sympathetic and empathic. – We may be the only safe, friendly face in a tumultuous time in their life.

We greet each person and treat them the way we would want to be treated! We take pride in offering the best customer service, the finest product in a well-cared for, secure and safe facility. Our facility speaks for itself, nicely manicured, clean and kept, large paved lots, with an inviting atmosphere.

So its ok to take pride in your work! Be proud of the ethics our company is based on. Be proud of the mission statement! Be the mission statement! Be proud of the level of professionalism and mannerisms YOU bring to the company and how that is portrayed to the customer.

Pride can start with a smile! The simplest of gestures! When someone enters the building, first thing that should greet them is your smile. Smile when answering the phone! If you are smiling while you’re talking on the phone, they hear it in your voice!

Get up! If you happen to be sitting down when someone walks into the store – jump up and smile! (that part was just to see if you are still reading!!!! As if we get to sit down! Insert a LMBO emoji here)

Listen to the customer – really listen! Put yourself in the shoes of the customer, what are they going through? What can you offer them? What can you say that will put them at ease and build trust? We learn a lot about the customer at move in, every customer has a story, and many share their story with us. Your verbal response as well as your body language are how the message is driven home with this customer. What message are you “driving”? Is it professional and friendly?
Smile as you build a rapport with your customer, strive to show an openness, a genuine concern, be trustworthy and empathic as much as possible. Be proud knowing you can meet their needs with confidence, don’t just focus on a sale or an up-sale.
Your job is important! … And at the end of the day, at 5:30 when you forget all about it, (LOL). Take pride in a job well done!!

Storage with a Smile

Find the right storage unit size for your needs at StorPlace Self StorageWhen you think about getting a storage unit several questions comes to mind, rather its location, pricing and or cleanliness. Many people get units for many different reasons like moving to a newly built home and had to place till it was completed, they just moved here from out of state don’t know where to place it just yet, who knows what the situation may be when they are needing.

Knowing what size of a storage unit they are needing is very important, it gives future tenants ideas on how and where to place their items inside that particular unit. Also you will also get the peace of mind that your belongings will be kept secure behind a gated fence and very well lite property. Although there are some properties in other places where you won’t get the same attention or the same customer service experience as you would here.
I haven’t been working at this establishment long but here at Storplace we take pride in assisting out current and future tenants with A1 customer service we want to make them feel right at home. We educate out tenants on need to know basis we make sure that they are educated on what to do and what not to do. One of my task here is doing a lock check which it is checking all units throughout the property checking for damages and lighting issues whatever the case may be, and one of the units didn’t have a lock.

So after completing the check I went to call this particular tenant where the lock was missing and I advised that his lock was missing asking was everything ok. This tenant was very happy with the fact that I called and informed him of his lock not being on the unit, and that made him more secure in staying with us simply because we take care of our properties and we want to make sure that our tenants items are well secure. So when you are needing a storage unit come to StorPlace where we will make you feel at home giving A1 customer service and a storage unit with a smile.

Self Storage Tips For Arts and Crafts Enthusiasts

Find the right storage unit size for your needs at StorPlace Self StorageCrafting is a passion. I love to craft. But it is difficult at times to create enough space around my home for all of the Arts and Crafts Storage that I need for successful projects.

Crafting can be so much fun and relaxing, but the amount of space for such large to needle sized items is very constricted. The key is organization, organization, organization. And StorPlace Self-Storage can help.

Not only do we have crafting enthusiasts on our team, we also have the right self storage units to help you declutter your home. Once you are organized and created the space you need this holiday season, following these helpful steps below for a DIY project for a Christmas wreath. Since I’m in the process of crafting this too, I’ve shared the tips for success below for all my fellow hobbiests.

DIY Wreath – Supplies List:

  • As many toilet paper and paper towel rolls you can collect
  • A ruler, preferably clear with easy guidelines
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Glue gun

DIY Wreath – Instructions:

  • Flatten down each paper towel roll to cut. This will make a fold at the top and bottom to create a leaf shape.
  • Use your ruler to mark where to cut with scissors. There is no set length, it just depends on how think you would prefer your wreath to be.
  • A 1.5-inch thickness is used in this example.
  • Cut as many pieces as possible depending on how many paper towel and toilet paper rolls you have, and how large you want to make your wreath.
  • Now start arranging the pieces into a wreath shape.
  • You can use a salad plate as a template to line the pieces up against.
  • Lay a single ring of pieces around the plate to form the wreath’s base.

Then, with your hot glue gun, adhere the pieces together to form a complete circle. This will form the inner edge of the wreath. Once this ring is complete, you can arrange the rest of the pieces around it in any way you like.

From this point forward, the possibilities of colors, glitters, bows, ribbons, and etc. are endless. Don’t worry it there are several pieces left over, use them for mini wreath ornaments for the tree.

And always remember, never let clutter or cramped quarters stand in the way of your passion. Let StorPlace Self-Storage help you move some items out of your way and start crafting today!

Tips for Winterizing and Organizing Your Home

Find the right storage unit size for your needs at StorPlace Self StorageOrganizing and winterizing your home is important. It keeps you in a good position when Spring Cleaning comes around, while also ensuring that everything is working properly throughout the harshest months that Mother Nature has to offer.

For tips on how to winterize and organize your home properly, check out the list below.

Grab your mulch bagger and leaf vacuum.

It is the time of year to get your fall tools out of storage and use them to clean up the area around your home. Use your mulch bagger to mulch up all the yard debris, especially around big trees. This helps to insulate the spring bulbs buried below, it also allows the cuttings to breakdown and nourish the tree.

Use a large amount as compostable material for the vegetable beds and the tumble composter.

If we can store it in a dry place, I can continue to make compost even through the winter. This is also the time, I start cleaning out dead and dying vegetation, and any areas that are overgrown or just need a little sprucing up. It’s still a little early to be thinking about fall plantings. Some bulbs, such as Tulips, prefer to be planted in the fall or over the winter, as these type bulbs use the cold weather as their dormant period which prepares them for a beautiful show in spring. Fall is the time of year to fertilize your acid loving Rhododendrons, and Azaleas, specifically.

Seal the vents around the exterior of our homes foundation.

We are also double-checking that all gutters and downspouts are clear, and flowing properly. Little is worse than finding out in the dead of winter, that these things are stopped up, and your forced to do an emergency cleaning while its freezing cold. We will also be checking our storm windows, to insure the window sills and exterior of windows are clean, and closed.

Inspect attic vents for debris or openings and wrap water pipes.

Eliminate the colder air from entering the attic. You should inspect water pipes, and wrap as needed to prevent freezing later. Central heating and air conditioning systems need a little extra attention at this time, it’s actually a great time to have them inspected by a professional, if you can pull your pressure washer out of storage, a good exterior cleaning will serve well, and as always clean and replace air filters as needed. If your heating vents flow through an area that is cold (attic or basement), you will want to inspect, and wrap as needed.

Don’t forget to winterize your automobile.

Draining the radiator, and filling with sufficient anti-freeze, inspection of tires, and belts, and of course stocking emergency items in the event of a break down or other road side emergency. Water, blankets, snacks, change of clothing, and a extra set of any emergency, (life saving) medications you may need. Use of these easy tips should help you and yours to make it through yet another winter, effectively, economically, and safely.

Consider storing your summer tools and equipment during this period of winterizing and home organization. StorPlace Self Storage’s storage units are available to assist with all of your seasonal storage needs, stop by today to learn more from our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

One of my favorite things about fall: PUMPKINS

Find the right storage unit size for your needs at StorPlace Self StorageI enjoy fall and everything it entails, especially PUMPKINS! I work for StorPlace Self Storage which is a company that supports and recognizes the importance of family and family time.

Our work hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:30pm which leaves time for family fun. I also live in Murfreesboro and so I am always seeking out fun places to visit that are not too far from home.

Here are two of my favorite family fun fall activities near Murfreesboro.

Lucky Ladd Farms

Lucky Ladd Farms is located in Eagleville, TN just a short 20 minute drive from Murfreesboro. Pumpkins are available for picking here beginning on September 21st through October 31st. This is a great place to take the whole family; as it is much more than just a pumpkin patch. Lucky Ladd has a full day of activities available including a petting zoo, pony rides, pumpkin patch, corn maze, and over 75 hands-on attractions. You get all of this for $13.00 for adults and teens, $11.00 for children 2-12 and ages 65 and over get in for $11.00; also parking is free here. You can obtain more information by visiting their website at Lucky Ladd Farms.

Walden Pumpkin Patch

Walden Pumpkin Patch is located in Smyrna, TN which is also a short 20 minute drive from Murfreesboro. This is a beautiful farm that is definitely worth a visit; Walden’s is open beginning September 24th through October 31st and admission to the farm, including parking is free of charge. They have hayrides, face painting, and sand art activities all for a small charge. They also have an activity area you can play in for just $4 a person which includes a corn maze, Hay Mountain, a 40 foot slide, seesaw, creepy corner, and several more activities. They also have concessions you can purchase while you are there; I would highly recommend the pumpkin fudge…DELICIOUS! You can visit Walden’s webpage for more information at Walden Farm.

In my opinion you really cannot go wrong with either choice, perhaps you can just do both, whichever you choose I hope you have a great time! Happy Fall!

Delicious Eats around the Murfreesboro, TN area

Storage Solutions at StorPlace Self StorageOne of my favorite activities is exploring many of the great restaurants, cafes and diners around the Murfreesboro, TN area.

If you’re an experienced foodie like me, or an aspiring foodie who is looking for some recommendations on some of the best places to go, below is a list we compiled to help you on that journey to deliciousness.

Below are a few of those gems.

Goodness Gracious at The Mill-Readyville, TN (just down Woodbury Hwy)

The Mill is a historic landmark established in 1812 in Readyville, TN. It is currently a restaurant and a working grist mill. The Mill is also a venue for special occasions such as weddings. They serve breakfast, brunch and lunch. I have never ventured over into anything besides breakfast because, frankly- the breakfast is just too good.

One of my go to orders is the Buffalo Chicken Omelet. This dish is incredibly savory! The omelet is stuffed with grilled chicken, a mild and creamy buffalo sauce and crumbles of blue cheese. There are many sides to cheese from including: gouda grits, hash brown casserole or even pineapple cheese casserole. Don’t forget to order a cup of coffee. They will certainly top your cup off and all with a smile!

Carmen’s Taqueria (West Northfield Blvd in Murfreesboro)

If you asked me what my favorite Mexican restaurant here in the ‘Boro is, I would without a doubt say Carmen’s Taqueria. Carmen’s is a feast for the stomach as well as the eyes. They serve delicious Mexican food with a detailed flare. One of my favorite dishes to order is the Burrito de Camaron. The burrito is stuffed with plump shrimp, along with white queso poured on top. They add slices of avocado near some hearty beans and rice. They are located at 206 W Northfield Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 and business hours are from Mon-Sat. 11am-10pm & Sun 11am-9pm

Sam’s Sports Grill (located outside of Stones River Mall)

Sam’s Sports Grill is one of my favorites for something quick. There are TV’s displayed everywhere if you are a Sports Fan. I, myself, stop in for the quick, delicious food. Once I like something, I tend to get stuck on it. For Sam’s that would be The French Dip sandwich. Angus roast beef and swiss cheese fill this sandwich that is served on a soft hoagie roll. It comes with the classic au jus dipping sauce, but I ask for a cup of their fresh horseradish dip, too (trust me, you are going to want to try this as well).

In the storage business, our team here at StorPlace of Rutherford Boulevard likes to relax when we can and check out new things and places. We hope you try some of these restaurants and let us know what you think!

Social Media and the Self Storage Opportunities

Heated and Cooled Storage Units at StorPlace Self StorageNetworking in the Social Media World.

I have heard it said many times that location, location; location is everything in the real estate market. And although I agree with that premise I would contend that networking and impeccable Customer Service is as valuable a key for businesses thriving during any economy. There is no substitute for getting your business name out in the field. At StorPlace of Cool Springs there are several ways that we do networking.

Word of mouth has long proven to be our best marketing tool. A happy customer tells others of their positive experience. We are always delighted to get referrals because that tells us we are doing things right. At StorPlace we offer up to $50 referral fee for sharing our name with your friends. It is an easy way to store your valuables and get a financial benefit. Refer a friend and reap the financial reward. See any StorPlace manager for details.

Another strong component of networking is Social Media. Those of us that are of a certain age….say Senior are in amazement at how important Social Media has become. Even this blog, if chosen will be on the StorPlace Website. Wait….What? A Blog…..what is that.

Well according to Webster it’s a noun – a website containing a writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites. This is true and is what we do here at StorPlace. Managers and Assistant Managers take turns different times of the year writing about our insight for storage.

Website…..now what in the world is that…again a noun – Digital Technology. a connected group of pages on the World Wide Web regarded as a single entity, usually maintained by one person or organization and devoted to a single topic or several closely related topics

We could probably go on and on with this but you get the idea. If you are reading this Blog you found your way to our Website

As important as Social Media in our business Customer Service and a well maintained property are very important. With Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to name a few a satisfied or unsatisfied customer and post comments about your facility quicker than they can leave the parking lot. rtant Social Media has become. Even this blog, if chosen will be on our the Sty bThe best way to make sure we get positive feedback is to follow the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have done to you” the benefit is that people see us in the community as fair responsive organization which makes renting a unit from us more desirable. Positive visibility can only help your bottom line. It is a win-win for everyone

Storage Tips for The Woodworking Hobby Enthusiast

StorPlace Self Storage in Bowling Green KentuckyWood working is one of my favorite hobbies. However, wood is not cheap so I searched for a way to find lumber that people no longer need and just wanted gone. I posted a few adds advertising free haul away and clean up. This was a good and bad way of getting free lumber.

The good side is that I was getting some legit calls for good quality lumber from nearby home remodels and the ever growing construction sites popping up around where I live. The down side to this was it was all scrapes and nothing was really workable without piecing two or more pieces together. Another downside to the construction sites was that I had to haul away all the other stuff that goes with construction sites drywall, roofing and siding. After doing this for a couple of months with not great success I received a call from my mom and she told me that her neighbor Mary Ray came by the house and asked if I could cut a maple tree that had fallen from the storms of the previous week.

Without hesitation I told her I would and would be out there after church on the following Sunday. Mary Ray is one of the kindest ladies I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. After my mom’s divorce Mary ray took care of me and my sisters when my mom worked late at the Hospital. That following Sunday I pulled in the driveway of Mary rays and she met me still all dolled up from church and gave me a big huge. The monster is around back as she laughed I followed her around the house and I had to take a step back when I saw the tree. Mary ray said her and her husband met under the tree and that’s why he built the house where he did. I could tell she was very upset seeing the tree that stood over her for her entire life laying lifeless all over her back yard.

Her Husband James pasted away two years ago and now knowing the Importance of this particular tree. I wanted to do something special for her. The cleanup of this tree was crazy I worked on it from two forty that afternoon till I ran out of sunlight and I only got half of the tree cut. With huge piles of wood. Enough that I wouldn’t have to scavenge the scrapes from construction sites for a couple of years. I just didn’t have anywhere to put it. I looked up some nearby storage facilities and found StorPlace self-storage and purchased a huge outside unit to keep the wood from rotting.

Now with all the wood I need I can concentrate on building Mary Ray a outdoor gazebo she loves gardening and I wanted to give her something that reminds her of James and brings her some comfort knowing that the tree that was huge part of her life is still with her just in a new form.
