Have you ever wondered how safe and secure your belongings are?  Much like the old adage “you get what you pay for”, self storage facilities come in all shapes and sizes with different amenities.  Each storage facility offers some features to consider, but at StorPlace Self Storage, we offer that “little extra”.

Self storage security should include cylinder locks, digital camera systems, gated access, a barbed wire fence, and personal daily walk-through of the properties by company employees. There are so many things a person can do to assure themselves that they get the very best.

Our high security cylinder locks are made of the hardest steel with 21 brass pins that allows not only thousands of different key changes, but anti-pick punch resistant mechanisms.  3 high security round keys comes with every tenants lock which are difficult to copy except at a qualified locksmith shop.  These locks alone can be a deterrent to someone with ill-gotten intentions.

Digital site surveillance is top of the line at StorPlace Self Storage We have cameras that record each time any motion is detected.  Don’t scratch your nose because “Big Brother” will surely capture you on hidden camera! This remarkably clear footage is one of the best surveillance systems.

Along with the digital system, our properties are surrounded by 8 foot chain linked and wrought iron fences topped with barbed wire. The gated properties are accessed by individual assigned security pass codes. Gate entry and passage is then recorded with date stamping as well as the customers name and time.

Each day our employees walk the property and verify the safety and security of each customer’s storage door and lock.  Fences and lighting are also monitored to assure facility up-keep as well as security.

Other considerations when choosing a storage facility would be cleanliness and pest control.   With the help of Belle Meade exterminators, StorPlace Self Storage facilities have monthly service to prevent problems with rodents and bug. Our well-trained employees also sweep, mop and maintain the grounds and buildings to keep them clean.

Stop by anytime at one of our 16 convenient locations for a site tour and see for yourself; You really do “get what you pay for” and you also “get your money’s worth” too when storing at StorPlace Self Storage!   We have facilities located in Bellevue, Antioch, Hendersonville, Madison, Hermitage, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood and Bowling Green, KY.

First impressions

First Impressions Count for Self Storage

Cleanliness, maintenance, and curb appeal are some of the most important factors of any business. By instinct, we usually are prone to go towards a clean, well-lit, safe looking environment. We then would responsively choose the same environment for protecting our belongings.

While keeping a self storage property clean may not stop a criminal, it does go a long way to deter their behavior. A criminal is looking for the exact opposite of the smart shopper. They are looking for an unlit and unkempt property so they are less likely to be caught in the act.

At StorPlace Self Storage, we take great pride in maintaining our properties to look and feel the best they can possibly be. We want our customers to know right from the start, they have chosen the right place.

We keep the grass, trees and shrubs all trimmed and neat, and make sure it is never out of control providing cover for criminal behavior.  It is important to our employees that “our neighborhood” is and feels safe for our customers.

To the criminal mind, a clean, well-kept and maintained facility is equated with security and a functioning camera system. StorPlace Self Storage staff takes many measure’s to deter and stop deplorable behavior; our high-tech security systems are just a part of the ensemble.

Good Lighting is essential. We keep our inside and outside bulbs glowing for everyone’s safety. When necessary, we install extra lighting to help in darker areas that could be hazardous. A well-lit property also makes the common thief uncomfortable.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” as the old adage goes. Keeping our facilities clean and comfortable starts with us, sweeping and picking up trash as it happens. We hope our tenants will then follow suit and appreciate the look and feel of a clean property. We wouldn’t throw trash in our own front yards, so we hope the on site dumpsters and trash containers can help everyone work together keeping our neighborhood storage facility clean and well-kept for everyone.

StorPlace Self Storage prides itself on the cleanliness, curb appeal and the over-all look and feel or our facilities. We want our customers and employees to feel safe, well-tended and secure when they visit our locations.

After all, StorPlace Self Storage is your neighborhood storage facility!

What to Look For When Comparing Storage Facilities

Computerized Gate Access at StorPlace Self Storage

Every StorPlace Self Storage faciliy has computerized gate access.

When searching for a storage facility there are a few key things that you should look for during your search: location, availability, security, competitive pricing, cleanliness, and customer service.

Location is a major factor in choosing a facility.  The facility that is the closest to your home is the one you are more likely to choose.  StorPlace Self Storage has 16 facilities in and around middle Tennessee as well as Bowling Green, KY.  There are many different storage facilities in the area to choose from, but don’t base our choice only on the location.

Availability of storage units is another big factor when it comes to choosing a facility.  Not all storage facilities have the same number and size of units available at a certain time.  Storage unit availability varies from location to location.  A good way to check availability is to call the facility you are thinking about storing at or you can go to the website to check to see if the storage unit size that you need is available. At StorPlace of Hendersonville, you can check availability of certain size storage units on our website.

Security is a feature that all potential customers should focus their attention on.  Most places will have a couple of cameras and a gate. At StorPlace Self Storage, we offer multiple security options.  We have surveillance cameras that record 24 hours a day, a fence that is surrounding the entire facility, gated access, and high security lock for the units.

Pricing is probably the most important thing that people think about when choosing a storage facility.  Competitive pricing is available at just about every storage facility. The thing to look for is the most “bang for your buck”.  This can be done by comparing multiple facilities prices along with any specials or coupons you can find.  Typically, a heated and cooled space is going to cost more money than your standard outdoor garage style units.  This may not be true in all cases though.  Pricing also depends on availability of the units.

The Cleanliness of the storage facility is probably the most important factor for me.  You should always ask for a tour of the property and ask to be shown the unit you are thinking about renting before committing to the rental.  This way you can check out the property for yourself and make sure you are getting a clean unit.  Also, a good question to ask is if the facility has an exterminator that comes and sprays the property for bugs.

Good customer service is important for everyone. At StorPlace Self Storage, we pride ourselves on our great customer service.  We try to help the customer in any way possible.  If you have any additional questions you can call any of our 16 locations to get more information.

Once you have packed your belongings and determined the right self-storage location for your storing needs, you must select an appropriate storage unit. Storage units come in many different sizes, and with many different features. Storage professionals, such as the ones at StorPlace Self Storage, can help determine the storage unit which will best serve your needs. Do you require a small or large unit? A drive up unit? A heated and cooled unit? These are just a few of the questions that a property manager can assist you with.  Your personal belonging are very important, you take great care of them, choosing a storage unit should be no different. Take the same care when selecting your self-storage unit.

There is no unimportant part of self storage. Start with the necessary packing supplies, such as boxes and tape, for the storing or moving job ahead. Another very important part of storing with self-storage is finding a location that suits you best; a location down the road is better than across town. Lastly, select the right unit for your storage needs, if you don’t know, ask. Self Storage Storing Tips

StorPlace has self storage for all the seasons

Renting a storage unit and packing away your belongings can be a daunting task. Once you have packed the items that you want to store, follow the storage unit packing tips below to get more space out your storage unit.

  • Plan the layout before storing anything. If possible, leave an aisle down the center of the storage unit so you won’t have to move around as much when you need access. Put items in the front of the storage unit that you will need to frequently access. The back of the storage unit should be reserved for the least needed stuff. Make a diagram of where things are stored and tape it to the front wall; it will help you find what you are looking for.
  • Keep an inventory of your unit’s contents. Take digital photos and make a list of items before storing  or packing them,so you can remember what you have stored.
  • If you are storing items in cardboard boxes, tape the bottoms securely. Do not just fold the flaps on the bottom or the top of the boxes on themselves. Fill the boxes to the top, (use packing paper, if needed), before taping closed. Boxes that are not full can collapse when another box is placed on top of them. Stack the heaviest and largest boxes on the bottom with lighter boxes on top. Similar sized boxes will be easier to stack and are more stable.
  • Label all of the boxes. If a stored item is not identifiable by sight, indicated the room and description of the contents of the box on the outside. This should be written on all four sides of the box, so you can quickly identify the contents. If you put a label on the top of the box, the list can’t be seen if something is stacked on the box.
  • Maximize the vertical space in your unit. Sofas and mattresses can be stored vertically, so their footprint is smaller. Consider purchasing free-standing shelving units to stack boxes and other items within the storage unit. Select shelving units  that are deep enough for your needs. Also, choose storage units that are strong and are a good value, because no one will really see them.
  • Fill all empty spaces in other stored items such as appliances, dressers and shelving units. Place things inside of drawers and cabinets, such as cushions, clothing, stuffed animals, lamp shades and linens. Put boxes under and on the top of chairs and tables.
  • Disassemble large items like beds and remove legs from tables to save on space. Place any screws or hardware in a plastic bag and tape securely to the furniture.
  • Safeguard your items from damage and breakage. Place blankets between or around furniture to prevent scratches. Do not store mirrors or art lying flat, store them vertically within a special sized box or with protective packing material.
  • To protect your belongings from damage in humid conditions, leave some space between your stacks of boxes and the walls so air can circulate. Placing pallets on the floor will allow air to flow underneath and prevent the build-up of condensation. Rub a small amount of oil on anything metal like tools and bikes to help prevent rust. Use an old sheet to cover stored furniture or individual items to protect them from dust.
  • Check with your particular storage operator regarding what items that can not be stored in storage units.Under no circumstances should you keep anything flammable or combustible in your storage unit. Also, do not keep live plants or animals in a storage unit.
